Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install an EV charger outdoors?
Electric vehicle charge points can easily be installed outside by being fixed to an exterior wall of the building, or a charging post nearby where the electric vehicles are to be parked.
How much is the workplace charging scheme grant?
Businesses, charities and public sector organisations that meet applicant and site eligibility criteria are open to apply for The Workplace Charging Scheme grant (WCS), which covers up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle charge points, inclusive of VAT) capped at a maximum of £350 per socket.
Can you install an EV charger on a fence?
Charging points cannot be mounted onto a wooden fence. Charge points must be installed at least 500mm above ground, on vertical and sturdy substrate, such as a brick wall.
What is the difference between Level 1 and Level 2 EV charging?
Level 1 charging adds about 4 miles of range per hour, whereas Level 2 adds about 25 miles of range per hour. Because of this, most businesses opt for level Level 2 charging cables, both for customers and employees as Level 1 is too slow.
